Students of the NSS unit of V. M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education (VMSIIHE) observed Gandhi Jayanti to mark the 151st birth anniversary of the freedom fighter, who led the Indian National Movement for Independence. The celebration was held in the virtual mode as students are attending classes from home.
Professor Irfan Mirza, Principal/Director of VMSIIHE placed a garland on the image of the Mahatma, as a mark of respect and honour to the great leader.
The virtual event included an opening address by Roel Andrade, a TY B.Sc. International Hospitality Management student who shared insights into the life of the father of the nation. An interactive session between Prof. Mirza and the students followed where incidents related to the Mahatma’s life were discussed and shared. The students had collectively put together a beautiful video on the life of the leader which was screened at the session.
Led by Asst. Prof. Tanvi Shenvi Manerikar-NSS officer, students Eesha Newalkar, Purva Sharma, Kimberly Mendes and Vincent Vynden Francisco, Uttara Acharya along with other students put in efforts to plan the event virtually.
