

KOCHI:
Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Tourism Suresh Gopi will kick off Kerala’s largest industry-academia meet, CONFLUENCE 2024, here on Wednesday, providing a platform for the academic institutes of higher learning and corporate houses to exchange ideas on significant transitions in knowledge industry and the emergence of new-age jobs.
The day-long conclave, with ‘Future of Talent’ as its focal theme, is being organized by Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology (RSET) and the Group of Technology Companies (GTECH), the industry body representing over 250 IT companies in Kerala. Hibi Eden, MP, will be present at the inaugural function to be held at the college auditorium in the Infopark campus.
The closing ceremony will be presided over by P Rajeeve, Minister for Industries, and Dr. R Bindhu, Minister for Higher Education. Over 2,500 delegates comprising working professionals, academicians and students have already registered for the event.
The conclave is expected to serve as a platform for the higher learning institutes and corporate houses to exchange ideas and explore partnership opportunities to make Kerala the talent capital of the country for new-age jobs. Based on the deliberations, the organisers will bring out a white paper on the subject for submission to the government.
The plenary sessions will feature keynotes from ISRO Chairman Dr. S Somnath. Infosys co-founder S D Shibulal, and Google DeepMind Director Dileep George. The panel discussion will feature Mathew Kuzalnadan, MLA; C Balagopal, former Chairman, Federal Bank; Basil Joseph, cine artist, and V K Mathews, Executive Chairman IBS Software.
Dr. Somnath and Mathews are the recipients of the Kerala Prabha and Kerala Shree Awards 2024, announced by the state government a few days ago.
The highlight of the conclave will be the parallel tracks covering technical workshops, start-up expo, funded research project stalls, PhD conclave and research poster exhibition.
The co-organisers of the event are InfoPark, SmartCity, Technopark, Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), IEEE India Council, and Kochi Metro Rail Ltd.
