  • Trainings, Interactive Sessions and Musical Concert at GIM’s First Online Orientation Sessions

By NE Reporter on August 13, 2020

    PANAJI:
Leading B-school Goa Institute of Management (GIM) welcomed the first-year students who have just joined the institute with a weeklong orientation session which ended with a live online music concert on Instagram organised by the students of GIM. Over 450 students logging in from various part of the country and beyond its shores, attended the orientation ceremony.

First year students who have just joined the institute will commence classes this month as per the guidelines issued by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). GIM had commenced the first semester across its various management programmes, with online classes for senior students since May in a phased manner.

Students of Inception, the Performing Arts Society of GIM, curated a music concert on Instagram Live with a line-up of music artists who performed live. Jaipur based music artists Vipul Ajmera headlined the live concert. From multi-lingual artists to poetry recital and more, the live online concert was a treat for music enthusiasts.

Explained Prof Ranbir Singh Sodhi, Assistant Professor (Marketing) at GIM who lead the planning of the online orientation programme, “Our students come from diverse backgrounds. Since they are unable to be on campus physically, we planned a wholistic orientation programme which included interaction sessions with seniors and faculty, virtual tours and training sessions. This semester the institute will be conducting its entire teaching process online on Microsoft Teams. Hence understanding this platform thoroughly and getting comfortable with it was of prime importance. We built in several training sessions with the students to familiarize them with the workings of the platforms.”

While addressing students at the orientation session, Ajit Parulekar, Director, GIM said, “GIM has always stayed consistent to its mission to nurture leaders for sustainable business of the future. Ethics, values and corporate governance has been at the core of our pedagogy. We at GIM encourage you to be good managers and more importantly to be good human beings. Appreciate, applaud and celebrate the achievements of others while you navigate through your learning experiences here at GIM and beyond, in professional careers”

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is the B-school’s flagship programme while also offering a Post Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Management (PGDM – HCM); Post Graduate Diploma in Big Data Analytics (PGDM – BDA) and a newly launched Post Graduate Diploma in Banking, Insurance and Financial Services (PGDM – BIFS). The institute also offers a Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Part Time (PGDM-PT) programme for working professionals with classes scheduled over the weekend through the year.

The B-school has created multiple, fully equipped studios which act as virtual classrooms, across the spacious campus from where professors conduct classes and interact with students over the Microsoft Teams platform. A number of faculty reside at the faculty blocks on campus and can access the studios as per their convenience.

Over the years Goa Institute of Management has earned the enviable reputation of being one of the finest management schools in the country. B-school ranking surveys have shown a rising trend in ranking for GIM with the prestigious B-school consistently ranked among the top ten private B-Schools in India. GIM’s strength is its diversity, be it in its academic, ethnic or social diversity. The institute presently boasts of outstanding students, excellent infrastructure and the best talent that make up its core faculty. GIM today offers a rich bouquet of programs that meet the challenging business needs of our nation.
