KOCHI:
The three day International Conference on Advances in Computing and Communications (ICACC – 2016) being organised by Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology (RSET) started at Bolgatty Palace on Tuesday.
The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Kuncheria P Isaac, Vice-Chancellor, A P J Abdul Kalam Technological University. Rev. Dr. Jose Cletus Plackal, CMI (Chairperson), Provincial, Sacred Heart Province, & Manager, RSET presided over the function. RSET principal Dr A Unnikrishnan and vice principal Dr John M George also participated.
Prof. Mark Gahegan, Director, Centre for eResearch, University of Auckland who delivered the keynote address said that the greatest challenge now faced in computing is storage of data. It is impossible to recognise which data could be useful for future and not. Though computing gives various data and comprehensive knowledge, storage is still the greatest challenge.
The usage of data is surpassing the limitations of storage and the technology is yet to be developed to meet this challenge, he added. A cautious approach towards data servicing could only overcome the present threat of data storage.
At the panel discussion on Smart Technologies for a Smarter City KMRL additional general manager G P Hari, Kochi Smart City project assistant director Balasubramanian, Prof. Mark Gahegan, Director, Centre for eResearch, University of Auckland, Nest Group CEO Dr K R Suresh Nair, Prof Nuddy Pillai, MIT, New Zealand and K J Sohan, Ex-Mayor, Kochi participated. Dr Fr Jaison Paul CMI was the moderator.
The conference will include a peer reviewed program of technical sessions, workshops, tutorials, and demonstration sessions which will be held at Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology (RSET) on 7 th and 8 th September, 2016. Dr. Prof. K. J. Vinoy, Indian Institute of Science, India, Dr. Sayan Ray, Manukau Institute of Technology, New Zealand, Dr. Raja Kumar Murugeshan, Taylors University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia are the other eminent speakers of the conference.
The conference emphasize on promoting a high level interaction between the theoretical, experimental, and applied technologies, so as to exchange ideas in new and emerging areas of computing and communication technologies. It will also serve as a platform to cover the advanced aspects and approaches of computing and communication technologies in real world scenario.
This is the 6th consecutive edition of the conference with a strict acceptance rate of about 15% for all the previous editions. ICACC-2016 will provide a forum for sharing insights, experiences and information on various facets of evolving technologies and patterns related to Computer Science, Information Technology and Electronics.
The conference aims at providing an invaluable opportunity for interaction between students, researchers and practitioners from both academia and industry in these fields. More than 600 papers were received from over 38 countries out of which 138 have been selected for the conference.
