The three member team from School of Law, Sastra (deemed to be) University emerged winners in the 1 st Surana & Surana and CUSAT School of Legal Studies Dr A T Markose Memorial Technology Law Moot Court Competition – 2020.
The team representing School of Law, Christ (deemed to be) University was runner up. The team from National Law University, Nagpur bagged the Best Memorial Prize while Aneesh Johnson and Anurag Shah, both from Christ University, secured the Best Researcher and Best Student Advocate positions respectively. The final round of the competition, organised online jointly by School of Legal Studies and Surana & Surana, International Attorneys, Chennai, was held from 3.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. on 12 th, with Justice Sunil Thomas, Justice Shaji P Chaly and Justice N. Nagaresh of the High Court of Kerala constituting the panel of judges. The competition was held over two days with 17 teams in the fray.
The valedictory function was presided over by Vice Chancellor Dr K.N. Madhusoodanan from 6 pm onwards. The results were announced and felicitations offered by the judges. Dr S Ravichandran, Advocate and Academic Initiatives Head, Surana & Surana, School of Legal Studies Director Dr Vani Kesari A and Dr Harisankar K S, Faculty member spoke.
The School of Legal Studies has conducted a series of five national level moot court competitions in the name of its founder and renowned academician Prof. Dr A.T. Markose since 2012. This year’s competition is the first after the School inked an MOU with Surana & Surana for jointly organizing the event and the theme was ‘Gene Editing Technology and its legal ramifications’.
