  • Round Table on ‘Indebtedness Among Rural Households in Kerala’ at CUSAT

    KOCHI:
    CUSAT Centre for Budget Studies will organize a Round table on ‘Indebtedness among Rural Households in Kerala’ in association with Centre for Socio-economic and Environmental Studies, Kochi at 10.00 am on 27 th February at the Conference Hall, Centre for IPR Studies, CUSAT.

    The conference will focus on the theme ‘To achieve a joint understanding on the nature and magnitude of household indebtedness in rural Kerala and to identify next steps and possible avenues for interventions’. Dr. K.N. Harilal, member, State Planning Board, Kerala will deliver the key note address.

Purushothaman, Secretary, Rural Bank, Mannarkkad, Renjini S, Assistant District Mission Co-ordinator, Kudumbashree Mission and Sandhya Suresh, Chief Manager- Sustainable Banking, ESAF will lead various sessions with topics like Understanding rural indebtedness, Indebtedness among rural poor in Kerala, Micro finance institutions: Institutional mechanism to reduce indebtedness among rural households in Kerala, Loan utilization of self groups in Kerala, Microfinance sector: evolution, challenges and prospects, interventions of rural co-operatives: case of Palliyakkal, Rural indebtedness: Assessment and response of Kudumbashree and response of micro finance institutions to tackle rural indebtedness.
