KOCHI:
Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology (RSET), Kakkanad, Kochi which had been granted autonomous status by UGC for a period of 10 years in late July 2020, has been given the nod by the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Trivandrum to function as an autonomous institution from this academic year onwards.
With this university approval, RSET along with the two other private engineering colleges in the state who have been granted autonomy, are all set to change the face of engineering education in the state. The autonomy status would enable RSET to enhance the process of ensuring academic excellence and professional competence, and offer programmes in line with contemporary industrial and research requirements.
RSET, established in 2001, has over the last twenty years built up a solid reputation within the state and country thanks to the brilliant academic performance of its students at the university level and consistent placement records. RSET’s collaboration with industry and foreign universities, emphasis on research and entrepreneurship, and competent faculty have played a major role in making it the most preferred self-financing college in the state for undergraduate study. It has the highest admission intake in the state, and the largest number of successful engineering graduates. In the B.Tech Semester VIII examination results published by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University on September 20, 2020, RSET, which presented 764 students, has come third in the state with an overall pass percentage of 75.26.
RSET had already distinguished itself in June this year when it became the only private engineering college from Kerala to be listed in the National Institutional Ranking Framework of MHRD, Government of India. It is accredited by NAAC with A grade, and has NBA accreditation for six of its existing seven undergraduate programmes. The institution has already received approval to offer its eighth undergraduate programme, i.e. B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science from this academic year i.e. 2020-2021 onwards.
With this achievement, RSET becomes the third institution in the state under the Rajagiri province of the CMI congregation to attain autonomous status, after Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Kalamassery and Sacred Heart College, Thevara. The CMI legacy driven by the vision of St Kuriakose Elias Chavara has played a key role in RSET’s success.
