KOCHI:
A panel discussion on Draft National Education Policy-2019 was held at XIME Kochi campus. P. C. Cyriac, President, XIME Society was the Chairman and the moderator for the discussion.
Dr E M Thomas, Former Coordinator, Inter University Centre for Financial Economics & Engineering, Calicut University delivered the keynote address. Fr. Prasanth Palackappillil, Fr. Jaison Mulerickal; Prof. Kochurani Joseph and Dr Chackochan Njavallil were the panelists.
The panelists welcomed the focus, the direction and intention of the policy to provide accessibility, affordability, accountability, equity and quality in Indian education system. The panelists also raised some concerns on the Indian focus rather than global focus, Autonomy (not real thus far), likely corporate dominance in education, thrusting specific languages, etc. were also discussed. About 30 participants from various colleges across Kerala attended the program.
