ICMR Extra Mural Fellowship grant of Rupees One Crore and Two lakhs has been sanctioned to Dr. Baby Chakrapani P.S, Assistant Professor of Bio Technology Department and Hon. Director of CUSAT Center for Neurosciences and Dr. Shyam K. Nair, Additional Professor in Departmrent of Nuerology, Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology.
The grant is being sanctioned for conducting human gut microbiome and metablome research to investigate gut-microbioat brain axis alterations in health and Parkinson’s disease. The study will provide the missing links between gut microflora alterations and PD pathogenesis aimed at therapeutic operations for PD patients.
