  • Muthoot Finance Supports Higher Education with ₹1.34 Crore in Scholarships

    KOCHI:
    Continuing its mission to empower bright minds through access to quality education, Muthoot Finance Ltd. under its CSR efforts, has once again made a significant impact by awarding scholarships worth ₹1.34 Crore, Benefiting 80 Students across India, helping them pursue professional degrees in MBBS, Engineering, and Nursing. At the launch event of the scholarship program in Kerala, the company has announced scholarships worth Rs. 48 Lakhs for 30 meritorious students to support their higher education. The initiative is aimed at supporting students from underprivileged backgrounds in pursuing professional degrees such as MBBS, B.Tech, and BSc Nursing.

    Since the program’s inception in 2017, a total of 394 students have received financial assistance under this scholarship initiative, with a cumulative spend close to ₹3.4 Crore. This year’s scholarships include grants for 32 MBBS students, 29 B.Tech students, and 19 BSc Nursing students, continuing Muthoot Finance’s strong commitment to building a better-educated and equitable society. All beneficiaries under the scheme belong to families with annual household incomes of less than 2 Lakhs making this long-term support truly transformative for their academic and professional journeys.

    The event was inaugurated by Roji M John, MLA, Angamaly, and graced by Parvathy Gopakumar, Assistant Collector, Ernakulam, as Chief Guest. The event was presided over by George Alexander Muthoot, Managing Director, Muthoot Finance Ltd., with a keynote address delivered by George M George, Deputy Managing Director.

    Speaking about the Higher Education Scholarship initiative, George Alexander Muthoot, Managing Director, Muthoot Finance said: ““We firmly believe that no child’s potential should be limited due to financial constraints. Through our continued investment in education, we aim to uplift talented students and empower them to build successful careers. This initiative is not just a CSR activity—it’s a nation-building effort. As we align with the objectives of India’s New Education Policy, we are proud to help shape a future where quality education is truly inclusive and accessible.”

    Speaking at the event, Parvathy Gopakumar, Assistant Collector, Ernakulam, said: “Education has the power to transform not just individual lives, but entire communities. I am pleased to be associated with the commendable efforts of the Muthoot M George Foundation in advancing access to quality education. Supporting a student’s academic journey is one of the most meaningful investments we can make toward building a more inclusive and empowered society.”

    Under the scholarship program, each MBBS student will receive a grant of ₹2.4 lakhs, while B.Tech and B.Sc. Nursing students will each receive ₹1.2 lakhs, disbursed over the 4-year duration of their respective courses.

    The function also witnessed the check handover to the beneficiary Varghese, resident of Ernakulam under Muthoot Aashiyana Housing Project. Aashiyana Housing Project is a rehabilitation drive started in 2018 following the floods in Kerala. Under the project, more than 250 houses were constructed and handed over to the beneficiaries across Kerala and other parts of the country.
