The Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA) part of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has been recently accredited to the ‘India International Skill Centre’ (IISC) of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) on 6 th April 2020.
IISC is incorporated by Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India under the ‘Skill India Mission’ of NSDC and imparts training through Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), and Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PKVY). MAHE has been enlisted as a network member of the IISC and WGSHA along with the ‘Department of Culinary Arts’ (DCA) are empanelled as network centres.
WGSHA and DCA have been granted this recognition to provide skill trainings and certifications benchmarked to International Standards meant for the youth seeking global mobility for jobs. These institutes would be imparting training to workers planning to migrate overseas, provide pre- departure orientation training (PDOT) modules, develop placement linkages to international countries, and jointly certify the candidates.
Speaking on the accreditation, Chef K. Thirugnanasambantham, Principal, WGSHA said “This accreditation of national recognition reflects and acknowledges WGHSA’s expert faculty members, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and contemporary pedagogical methods to deliver internationally benchmarked training and certification programs that are measurable, accountable and of the highest quality. It is a moment of extreme pride and joy for all the staff members and students of the institute”
