“Reading is essential for attaining the bliss of knowledge and Libraries should become centres encouraging reading”, said Dr. P. G. Sankaran, Cusat Pro Vice –Chancellor.
He was inaugurating the second Cusat International Book Fair and Cultural Fest, organized by Cusat Library. “It is pertinent to note that nations where free thought and reading exist are always in the forefront of cultural advancement”, he added.
Dr. K. Babu Joseph, former Vice Chancellor of Cusat delivered the keynote address. Dr. N. Chandramohanakumar, Member, Syndicate, Dr. S. David Peter, Registrar, Writer Priya A.S., Senate Member & official of Cusat, Dr. Beena.C, University Librarian (i/c), and Anil Radhakrishnan, Programme Co- ordinator spoke on the occation.
Later, Literary critic, N. K. Sudheer delivered a talk on the topic ‘Paths of Reading – Past and Future’. The cultural programmes by students and staff of the University on Tuesday and screening of the films ‘The Unbilievers’ and ‘Love in the Time of Cholera’ on Wednesday will make the book fair colourful. The Fair will come to a close on December 21.
