KOCHI:
The four-day zonal competitions of India skills Kerala 2018, jointly organised by Industrial Training Department and Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence (KASE), will conclude on Saturday.
The state – level competitions of the event, which has generated huge response from students and the institutions alike at the district and zonal levels, will be held from April 28-30 at Marine Drive ground, Kochi.
Shaji C V, Principal, ITI Mala, said the assessment will be made after the competitions will get over on Saturday. “The competitions in plumbing – heating will be held tomorrow. Hence, the assessment could be made only after that,” he said.
A total of 95 candidates participated in the competitions held at ITI Kalamassery, said its Principal Mr P K Reghunathan. Two students took part in ‘ electronics’, 33 in automobile technology and 20 in painting and decorating, he said.
Winners of the zonal competitions will participate at the state level and the first and the second prize winners will be awarded cash prize worth Rs one lakh and Rs 50,000, respectively. Meanwhile, consolation prizes also will be given away to the participants who make it to the state-level competitions.
Inauguration of the South Zone competitions was held at Govt. ITI, Chackai, Thiruvananthapuram while the Central Zone competitions was inaugurated at Govt. ITI, Chalakudy. The North Zone competitions were inaugurated at Govt. ITI, Malikkadavu, Kozhikode.
