John Geevarghese is the most well known Malayali in Gujarat, who has contributed to the development of Gujarat through his immense philanthropic and entrepreneurial initiatives during the last six decades. His work has been acknowledged and recognized by both govt and private organisations many times over.
His inspiring life story has been captured in two books , one in English and another in Gujarati, by well known authors, S D Desai & Aditi Shukla Fozdar and Kajal Oza Vaidya respectively. A translation of the book into Malayalam by Jayaraman Kadambat, is proposed to be released at a function at the Grand Hyatt Bolgatti, Kochi at 6.30 p.m on 14th June 2019.
The theme of the evening is ‘Philanthropy through Institution Building’ as the speakers would dwell upon the singular devotion of John Geevargese in building numerous educational institutions, in Gujarat, under the umbrella of a public charitable trust Ahmedabad South Indian Association Charitable Trust. here will also be an ensemble of Classic Dance forms of Kerala consisting, among others, of Kathakali, Mohiniattam,Theyyam, Oppana and Margakali, showcasing 36 dancers in their own unique costumes at the same time on stage, by a professional group.
