KOCHI:
The third day of International Seminar on Health, Human Rights and Intellectual Property Rights commenced with the special talk of Dr. Arul George Scaria (Co-Director of the Centre for Innovation, Intellectual Property and Competition).His speech converged upon on the different aspects of open science movement, attempts to increase transparency in research outputs and citations of the results of his case studies and surveys. He also talked about the vaguenss of open science methodology in India’s National IP policy.
The first technical session of the day was led by Prof. (Dr.) Seetaram Kakarala (Professor of Law, Azim Premji University) and the topic for the discussion was ‘Technology and Environment: Convergences and Conflicts’. Dr. Pierre Mazzega (Research Director, French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), Dr. Claire Lajaunie (Faculty at French National Institute of Health and Medical Research) and Santhosh Kurup (CEO, ICT Academy, Kerala) acted as the resource experts in the panel.
The chair acquainted the audience with the concept of restructuring consumer patterns. He was followed by Dr. Pierre Mazzega and Dr. Claire Lajaunie who jointly presented the topic on Big Data Analysis, Online Citation Mapping and On Text Mining. Dr. Santhosh Kurup proceeded to give details about the sustainable relationship between technology and he asserted his perspective of green
computing at IT organizations and the mode of energy saving search of Google, i.e ‘blackl’.
The Sixth Technical Session was chaired by Dr. Bismi Gopalakrishnan (Associate Professor of Law, University of Kerala) on the topic of ‘Technology and Health: Evolving Need for Revolutions’. She was assisted by expert panelists Dr. Pierre Mazzega, Dr. Claire Lajaunie and Dr. Vani Kesari (Asst. Professor, School of Legal Studies-CUSAT).
The valedictory session commenced with the welcome note of Namitha K.L (Director(i/c), Centre for Human Rights, Nuals). It also witnessed the presence of Dr. J. Letha (Vice Chancellor, Cusat) and Prof. (Dr.) Rose Varghese, the charioteer of Nuals. Arjun P.K (Student Co-ordinator, Centre for Human Rights, Nuals proposed vote of thanks.
