The International Conference on Green Buildings and Sustainable Engineering (GBSE 2018) was conducted at Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology.
Dr. Syed Ibrahim, Consul, Federal Republic of Germany in Kerala inaugurated the function. An Indo-German dialogue and exposition on Smart and Sustainable Habitat (SASH 2018) in smart cities and an exhibition of smart and sustainable products is being conducted at the seminar. Dr. Syed Ibrahim spoke about & the everlasting relationship between Germany and India which can be further enriched by collaborative events like the international conference hosted by Rajagiri. According to him ‘Germany is committed to helping India implement the smart city mission; and believes that the international conference GBSE 2018 will contribute immensely to development of smart and sustainable cities’
Dr. Michael Pfeffer, Pro-vice Chancellor, Ravensburg-Weingarten University spoke on ‘the wonderful relationship between India and Germany and the possibility of contributing to Kochi’s growth as a smart city’. Dr. Varghese Jacob, STEAG Energy Services Pvt. Ltd encouraged the delegates present to put forth ‘their best effort to address pressing environmental and sustainability issues’.
Fr. Dr. Mathew Vattathara, Director, RSET and Dr. A. Unnikrishnan, Principal, RSET laid forth the vision of Rajagiri to ‘be a beacon of knowledge in the area of green buildings and sustainable engineering’. Panel discussions on ‘Sustainable Habitat for smart cities’ and ‘Challenges in smart city implementation’ were also organized as part of GBSE 2018.
