KOCHI:
Synergy: The Classroom Theatre on William Shakespeare’s Hamlet attracts the Post Graduate students in English across the state once again, when it was presented in UC College, Aluva.
It was a unique and unforgettable experience for the 125 students who took part in the one day event, organised jointly by Renaissance, Sree Sankara College, Kalady and the Research and PG Department of English, U.C. College, Aluva. Synergy is an experimental classroom theatre pioneered by Dr Sujeesh, Associate Professor of English, Sree Sankara College, Kalady.
It has attracted the students ever since it was started as an innovative attempt in teaching-learning in 2007. It lures the new generation students from the visual excesses of electronic media to the endless vista of imagination and histrionics.
The Synergy on William Shakespeare’s Hamlet held at U.C.College, Aluva on 06 Oct 2019 by Dr Sujeesh portrayed seventeen characters from Hamlet, as the plot developed through various scenes. “Prince Hamlet is to stay forever in our minds, thanks to the wonderful experimental teaching method of Dr Sujeesh,” was the unanimous opinion of the students. “We have never had an experience like this in a classroom before.”
The synergy experiment has successfully been tried on Eugene O’ Neil’s Emperor Jones; Albert Camus’s Caligula; William Shakespeare’s The Tempest, Macbeth, The Merchant of Venice, Julius Caesar; Girish Karnad’s The Fire and the Rain, Nagamandala and Hayavadana. Prof. Cheri Jacob K., the Head of the Department of English and Prof. Sreedevi N. S. Coordinator of Renaissance, Gayathri Babu, Gokul K.O., Alvin Poulose, Abhijith Sreekumar,
