“The corruption in data is a challenge to the computer research community and it is the duty of the researchers to resolve it”, said CUSAT Vice Chancellor Dr. R Sasidharan.
He was inaugurating the 9th National Conference on Indian Language Computing (NCILC-2019) organized by Department of Computer Applications of the University. He explained with examples that the translation of English words provided by computers is often misleading. “Technological advancement has made humans fragile and more and more dependent on machines”, stated Dr. Sunil K Narayanankutty, Dean, Faculty of technology, and Controller of Examinations of the University.
Vice Chancellor gave away the first Dr. K V Pramod endowment award for outstanding performance to Nileena Shaji (Msc. Computer Science) and Bhaskar Thakur (MCA). Head of the Department Dr. B Kannan presided and Syndicate Member and Registrar in charge Prof. K N Madhusoodanan, Emeritus Professor Dr. K V Pramod and Dr. Judy M V spoke.
