KOCHI:
Edumpus, the premier educational social platform, has announced the launch of an INR One Crore Scholarship Programme, one of India’s largest study abroad scholarships till date. The scholarship is available to Indian students who are planning to study overseas in the upcoming academic intakes. Each student will be eligible for the scholarship amount ranging between INR 50,000 to INR 5,00,000, decided on a case to case basis.
The digital-first higher education platform aims to cross 11,500 applications for student intakes in 2021, a 5x Y-o-Y growth from last year, as vaccination drives in India and globally gain momentum and colleges abroad open their campuses to international students. The scholarship will cover tuition fees or living expenses or both which will be decided on a case to case basis.
To participate in the programme, students from anywhere in India can submit an application detailing why they should receive the scholarship. A special in-house jury will evaluate each application and assign scores based on the student’s merit, financial background and overall quality of submission. The scholarship has a rolling application and winners will be announced by the platform on a monthly basis with the amount being disbursed only after successful enrolment of the students at their preferred university. The scholarship is currently open to every student applying for higher education abroad through the Edumpus platform, until 15 th December 2021.
Commenting on the initiative, Ajesh Raj, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, said, “The COVID-19 pandemic has not been easy on the student community. Studying abroad comes with a host of living costs and financial burden on the students. Our intention of setting up this scholarship was to reduce the pressure on deserving students and allow them to focus on their academic goals. We aim to consider as many requests as possible and want to see our students be successful at their preferred university.”
Founded in Kerala in 2019, the Bengaluru-headquartered startup plans to further expand its user base across India as it continues to build long-term partnerships with institutions and educational consultants across the world. Further information on the scholarship can be accessed on the website.
