Dr. P.G Sankaran Assumed Office as Cusat PVC

KOCHI:
Prof. P.G. Sankaran, Head, Statistics Department and Director Center for Population Studies has assumed office as the 12 th Pro Vice Chancellor of the Cochin University of Science and Technology.
Dr. Sankaran is the elected member of International Statistical Institute (Netherlands), American Mathematical Society, (U.S.A), Institute of Mathematical Statistics (U.S.A.), International Indian Statistical Association
(U.S.A.), International Society for Business and Industrial Statistics (U.S.A.) etc. He has worked as CSIR SRF, DST BOYSCAST Fellow and has won the Young Researcher Award of International Indian Statistical Association for the year 2010. More than 130 Research papers, around 70 conference papers, three books and Technical Reports have been published under his authorship. He has been member of the Academic Council, Senate, Staff Council of CUSAT and member of Board of Studies of various Universities. He has also served as Visiting Scientist, Visiting Professor etc. in Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkatha, Kolkatha University, Waterloo and Delhousie Universities in Canada. He supervised the Ph.D. thesis of 9 Research Scholars
Dr. P.G.Sankaran is the son of Padutholmana Godan Namboothiripad and Savithry Antharjanam of Payyarappilly, Mulanthuruthy in Ernakulam District. Wife Sandhya belongs to Mannanampatta family, Shornur. CUSAT Electronics M.Tech Student Revathi, and Nandana, 8 th Std. student of Piravom Fathima School are daughters.
