Cochin University of Science and Technology entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with United Taekwon-Do Association of Kerala (U.T.A.K.), Nilambur, Malappuram, which is affiliated to Taekwon-Do Association of India and International Taekwon-Do Federation, Vienna.
CUSAT Registrar Dr K. Ajitha and Master Abdu Rahiman M., secretary, U.T.A.K. signed the MoU in the presence of Vice Chancellor Dr K.N. Madhusoodanan, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr P.G. Sankaran. The MoU envisages to provide Taekwon-Do training to empower students, especially girls to enlighten and inspire self defence, awareness of health, physical fitness subsequently to participate in the Taekwon-Do tournaments like inter-university, district level, state level, national level, international level championships with various institutions across the globe.
According to the MoU, U.T.A.K. has expressed their intention to provide Taekwon-Do training in association with the Physical Education Department of CUSAT. Physical Education Department Head Dr Ajith Mohan, IRAA Director P P Vinod Kumar, Deputy Registrar Babu S, Public Relations and Publications Director Jayasankar M and Prem kumar M, District Secretary, U.T.A.K. were also present.
