The Vice Chancellor of CUSAT Dr. K N Madhusoodanan has officially launched the device here in the university seminar complex. Earlier in June, the prototype of the device has been developed by the start up Bluemink Innovations incubated in CITTIC, TBI in association with the Department of Electronics CUSAT under the leadership of Dr. Supriya M H. The prototype has been tested and certified at Rajiv Gandhi Centre of Biotechnology, an ICMR approved laboratory, Trivandrum.
The prototype has been found to be effective in surface disinfection of items with a success rate of 99%. Bluemink Innovations headed by the researchers Dr. Shameer K Mohammed , Zameel Ahamed, Dr. Mohan Kumar has already handed over the device for installation in Chief Ministers office for disinfecting documents. Bluemink Innovations has started the production of the device named TRANSIT with the gant-in-aid drawn from CUSATECH Foundation(1.35 lakhs).
The proposal of the Bluemink Innovations has been approved by Dr. K M Madhusoodanan, the Vice Chancellor, CUSAT who is also the Manager of CUSATECH Foundation. The subjected device TRANSIT come out with dual doors for contactless secure hand over of documents, currency etc. The device finds applications in front office desk, reception counters, banks, doctor’s consulting tables, ticket counters in railway stations etc.
According to Dr. Sam Thomas “Even though several sterilizers are available in the market, this particular pass tunnel concept is unique and great innovation to meet the current requirements of the situation to help society”.
