MHRD has announced 500 PhD fellowships in the country for exploring the possibility of collaboration between higher educational institutions in India and DRDO.MHRD shall sponsor 500 PhD students, all over India, who will be enrolled in various AICTE and centrally funded institutions to work on research problems identified by DRDO.
MHARD is aiming in promoting the young researchers to work in the areas of state-of-the-art defense technologies and high-end R&D activities of DRDO. Along with various IIT’s, IISc., NIT’s and state Universities, MHRD has announced 30 PhD fellowships for Cochin University of Science and Technology under
MHRDO-DRDO Fellowship scheme.
Vice Chancellor said that it is heartened to know that CUSAT is the only one state University selected for this scheme from Kerala. In connection to this programme, NPOL is identified as the domain area and DRDO lab for CUSAT to establish the research collaboration. This programme will boost the R&D relationship between NPOL and CUSAT, said Vice Chancellor. For the quick start of this programme, 8 Research areas are identified jointly by the teachers of CUSAT and Scientists of NPOL for the First Phase.Dr. Santhanakrishnan, Scientist, NPOL and Prof. Honey John, CUSAT are coordinating the programme. Five Departments of CUSAT, Department of Physical Oceanography, Department of Electronics, International School of Photonics, Department of Atmospheric Sciences, Department of Polymer Science and Rubber Technology are identified for the first phase.
