NEW DELHI:
British Council, the UK’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations, is hosting this year’s ‘Study UK Virtual Fair’ on Saturday 21 August 2021. A semi-annual event, it is the most comprehensive one stop source of information for studying in the UK, for prospective students and decision-makers, and covers all important aspects enabling an informed decision. The Study UK fair went digital in 2020, and the British Council organised two ‘virtual’ fairs in August and December, which together saw over 11,000 registrations.
Over the last few years, the UK has continued to be a preferred destination for Indian students and there has been a consistent increase in the number of Indian students enrolling in UK universities. Last year, more than 56,000 Indian nationals were granted a student visa, making up for almost one-fourth of all student visas issued by the UK.
Janaka Pushpanathan, Director South India, British Council, said that “At the British Council, we work very closely with Indian students to support them in making an informed decision about UK courses, universities, scholarships, and more. Our Study UK Virtual Fairs provide the most updated and reliable information to students, parents, education counsellors and agents. Every year, our fairs attract thousands of students and parents. This year too, we have an overwhelming response from students who’ve chosen UK as their top destination for higher education; we look forward to interacting with them, as do the 35 UK Universities who are participating in our virtual fair on 21 August 2021.”
The Study UK Virtual Fair will allow participants to get all answers about the current process for obtaining a student visa and Graduate Route from UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) officers Experts will also address queries on the newly launched Graduate Route and post-study work opportunities in the UK. Representatives from the British Council will also share information on the available scholarships and student life in the UK.
Additionally, the Study UK Virtual Fair will allow prospective students to consult and get guidance on programs, university selection, eligibility, application process, course content and more, with representatives from over 35 UK universities, including prestigious Russell Group establishments like the University of Bristol, University of Birmingham, University of Edinburgh, University of Glasgow, University of Sheffield, University of Manchester, in addition to other esteemed institutions.
