KOCHI:
“Collaboration of major universities in Japan with Cochin University of Science and Technology will be widened especially in different branches of engineering, management, polymer science, economics, commerce, marine science, law and humanities”, said Kenji Hiramatsu, Japanese ambassador in India.
The ambassador also informed that graduates from Kerala, with proficienty in Japanese language have a lot of employment opportunity in Japan and Japanese companies situated elsewhere. “A lot of students of JNU, Delhi are being selected for job in Japanese companies after JNU made Japanese language a part of curriculum”, he added.
Hiramatsu was speaking at an interactive meeting with the Deans of Faculty at CUSAT. The ambassador made it clear that it is the dedicated aim of Japan to provide all possible support to Kerala where IT, tourism, management etc. have infinite potential.
“The activities will be centered around Kochi which is a major educational, industrial and commercial centre in this part of the country”, he added. The meeting was presided over by Dr. R. Sasidharan, Vice chancellor of CUSAT. Dr. K.K. Saju, Syndicate member and IRAA Director, and Registrar Dr. David Peter spoke at the meeting. Former Pro V C Dr. P.G. Sankaran, Deans of faculty, Dr. M. Bhasi, Dr. P S Sreejith, Dr. Rosamma Philip and Dr. N S Soman, SOE Principal Dr. M.R.R Panicker and Prof. Thomas Kurian participated in the discussions with the ambassador. Japanese embassy official Masatoshi Kikuchi and Japanese language teacher in CUSAT Nikki Shimuzu were present on the occasion.
