Dalit Social Justice Workshop Concluded at Cusat

The Workshop on “Caste, Prejudice, Discrimination and Social Justice of the Dalits” organized by Cusat Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy (CSSEIP) has concluded here on 28 th February.
The Workshop was organised in collaboration with the University of Wesleyan, USA. Prof. Scott Pious of the University of Wesleyan, Dr. P. K Sivanandan IAS (Retd.), Former Chairman SC-ST Commission Kerala, Prof. Annalakshmi Narayanan, Professor of Psychology, Bharathiar University and Dr. D. Rajasenan, Director, CSSEIP, Cusat made presentations.
The presentations focused the contemporary issues as well. Though the tyranny of oppression is transferred through the democracy of social good the Dalits continue to face the brunt of disgrace and exploitation which is highlighted by the recent episode of the brutal killing of the Adivasi youth Madhu in the Attappadi tribal hamlet last week.
The reason for their malady is not based on the paucity of funds and schemes meant for uplifting the Dalits, but because of the failure of the agency system with illicit nexus between the bureaucrats-contractor and local politicians involved in the process. This kind of ill-governance in a way prevents the employment and income multiplier for their asset creation and to live in the society without disgrace.
Highlighting the issues of the tribes, Dr. Rajasenan, with a recent CSSEIP study, explained that the welfare schemes
have high level of allocation-utilization mismatches, as these generally reaches to the community only in a miniscule level on per Rupee basis
