The International seminar organized by the Centre for Behavioral Sciences and Research in Rajagiri College of Social Sciences on “Leadership for Success” was inaugurated by Mohammed Hanish, M.D. Kochi Metro and Supply-co. Chief resource persons were Dr.Philip Laird and Jordyn from Trinity Western University, Canada. In addition to the participants from India there were delegates from various universities from South Korea, Germany, Argentina, France and Italy. 34 research papers were presented.
Dr. Mohammed Hanish raised the present situation in corporates and society that the Leadership qualities are increasing but are not coupled with service mindedness. He also suggested different practical remedies to reduce stress while facing different difficult decision making situations for leaders.
One such is Yoga which was of great help even personally to him at the juncture when he took over Kochi Metro Rail limited as the Managing Director. The continuity of professionalism, speed of work and the huge extension of service lines of Metro network including water metro is a demanding situation where fast and wise decisions have to be taken. Only people in each layer of work, with leadership qualities, can lead the departments and company to success. These kinds of leadership Seminars will help increasing leadership qualities to the levels of future requirements.
Dr. Philip Laird, the resource person from Canada took classes on leadership dynamics in group and management settings. Jordyn went in detail about the leadership lessons from her long stint of working for the homeless youth in different provinces in Canada.
A formal agreement between Rajagiri and Trinity Western University was signed by Fr. Jose Alex, and Dr. Philip Laird in the presence of Dr. Mohammed Hanish. He wished the agreement to grow and pave the way for far reaching outcomes like combined activities of Student and Faculty exchange, combined Research and Publications, jointly organized seminars and workshops etc that will expand the horizons of knowledge and experience to the student communities of both the countries.
Fr.Jose Alex, Director, Dr. Joseph I Injodey, Executive Director and Dr. Benoy Joseph, Principal, spoke during the occasion. HOD of Rajagiri Centre for Behavioural Science and Research Fr. Dr. Varghese K.Varghese welcomed the gathering and Fr. Dr.Joshy V.A proposed vote of thanks.
