KOZHIKODE:
The 17th Association of Indian Management Scholars (AIMS) International Conference on Management; jointly organized by AIMS International and Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM Kozhikode) was held here recently. The event with the theme ‘Management Challenges in Uncertain Environment’ witnessed participation from more than 200 Scholars and Researchers who actively contributed to various Workshops, Research Paper Presentations and the technical sessions held during the three-day meet.
The mission of Association of Indian Management Scholars International is to unify Indian management scholars to foster excellence in education and research, to advance knowledge, and support practice in all business and related disciplines. It organizes professional conferences, publishes a journal, and has embarked upon many other professional activities. The conference is also supported by the International Forum of Management Scholars.
Renowned academician and Sales and CRM expert Prof. Atul Parvatiyar, Rawls College of Business, Texas Tech University, Lubbock, USA was the Chief Guest and key note speaker for the inaugural day of the Meet. Prof. Parvatiyar in his address elaborated on the various aspects of macro-economic uncertainties, the switch from bilateral to multilateral trade movements and the shifts in the model of business in the current environment of nationalism vs globalisation debate. Prof Ompraksah Gupta, University of Houston Downtown, USA chaired the inaugural session.
During the closing session on the inaugural day, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director IIM Kozhikode gave out the awards for the standout contributions in the field of management education, in the presence of Prof Anandkuttan Unnithan, Dean Academics, IIM Kozhikode. Addressing the gathering Prof. Chatterjee said “Research and Innovation are the two lynchpins on which human evolution thrives. Researchers and Scholars not only have the responsibility to live up to the expectations of their peers but also have the greater responsibility of perpetuation of the advancement of scientific temper among the future generations. “
Earlier, Prof. Rudra Sensarma, Dean (Research, Innovation and Internationalisation) IIM Kozhikode, added that the Institute attaches a high degree of importance to engaging with Scholars, Researchers and how discussions, deliberations and networking at an important platform like the AIMS Meet is fundamental to move forward in a positive direction. The Meet, which was held in IIM Kozhikode for the second time, also held plenary sessions where Prof. Paritosh Basu, NMIMS University School of Business Management and Prof Murgie Krishnan, Radford University were the other prominent speakers.
17th AIMS Session also conducted special Workshops and paper presentations on varied topics ranging from the conventional domains of Operations Management, Indian Capital Markets, Human Resource Management, Finance, IT etc. to the current buzz domains of Brand Management, Social Media, Solar Energy and Entrepreneurship, etc. Prof. Sudershan Kuntluru, IIM Kozhikode, the Conference Co-chair gave out the vote of thanks and expressed his gratitude to the IIMK staff and the members of AIMS international for contributing in making the 17th Session, a success.
