Veegaland developers won pollution control award given by the State Pollution Control board. The project of Veegaland developers at Kaloor, petunia begonia, was given the award.
On behalf of the Veegaland developers, the award was received by Paul Cheeran, general manager, and Giri S Nair, senior manager, from A.C Moideen, minister for industries, and C.K Sajeevan, Chairman, pollution control board.
The excellent system set up at the flat to purify contaminated water and the nature friendly approach in construction made the project worthy for the awards. A group of committee members including the chairman of the pollution control board and member secretary visited and analyzed the flat set up.
The initiatives taken to separately dispose solid waste, convert bio waste to compost, generate electricity from solar panels and store rain water along with the eco friendly approach received by growing plants and using energy efficient bulbs were considered for the award. Petunia begonia won third prize in the ‘Others’ category. Commenting on the achievement B. Jayaraj, executive director, veegaland developers, said: “The award is an honour and the future projects will be done with prime concern for purification contaminated water and the nature friendly approach”
