“Swachh Vidyalaya – Shreshta Vidyalaya’ the cleanliness campaign of the CBSE Schools in Kerala was launched by Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers V D Sadananda Gowda.
The campaign will be implemented in all the CBSE School in Kerala by Council of CBSE Schools Kerala (CCSK) in association with BPCL, Indian Oil, Petronet and GAIL. The logo was launched by Union Minister Sadananda Gowda, V Muraleedharan, Minister of State for External and Parliamentary Affairs and BPCL executive director Prasad K Panicker at the 24 th CBSE Inter School Athletics Meet 2019 here.
The purpose of the project Swachh Vidyalaya is to ensure each and every student in particular and the related educational Institution in general follows a structured pattern of cleanliness and echo friendly atmosphere throughout the year. The top performing school in each district will be given the Puraskar sponsored by BPCL and the CCSK.
As part of the Swachh Vidyalaya, the schools will ensure Sanitation, Daily handwashing with soap before mid-day meal, Pure drinking water, Operation and maintenance and Behaviour change activities. As part of the project school will form four groups which will be named after Gandhijis life events, like Dandi, Champaran, Wardha, or Sabarmati, or Sardar, Kasthurba, Moulana, Jawaharlal etc. Each groups will be given responsibility to collect bio and non bio litters separately from the premises and adjacent places of the institution.
Rotation will be adhered, like if one group deals with the bio litter a week, next week they should be given non bio litter. Students will donate cloths to tailoring units to make bags, and some may try their hand to the sewing machine to make the same.
Single use plastics shall be banned. School will make a pledge that no plastic material will be given as brochure, files, and bags, instead natural fiber materials should be promoted. Students will be given training in transforming the waste material to useful things and artifacts. NGOs like Goonj will be participated.
