THRISSUR:
A group of youngsters are planning to take the ocean of subjects of the Neomedia by storm and ultimately set to shore. A channel on Youtube named ‘Oridathoridathu’, the proverbial style in narrating a story handed down from generations has been launched by Kerala Sahithya Academy president Vaisakhan.
For those who exclusively love the Malayalam language and its intricacies, its alphabets and captivating stories, they plan to replant stories on Youtube in the guise of the author himself. The legendary authors from MT Vasudevan Nair to the contemporary writers who keep the light of story still glowing bright , will invade and conquer the channel as story tellers.
This is an attempt to make stories that has not only been been published in periodicals and has been out
as books but also contemporary stories and articles readily available for the readers as audio
clippings. Twist Digital media, a firm at Thiruvanthapuran Kinfra Film and Video park for the past three
years, is behind the scenes of this efficacious venture. This endeavour,”Oridathoridathu”- story telling channel on Youtube , is the materialization of the tireless efforts of a group of youngsters over a period of two years.
Kinfra Film and Video Park , Thiruvanthapuram has pledged all its support and guidance for this new venture which will take the Malayalam language in all its splendour through the neo media over to the Malayalees residing all around the globe. ” Through this channel -‘Oridathoridathu’ on Youtube , these youngsters are opening a whole new branch for Malayalam literature”, said Sooraj Ravindran, MD Kinfra Film and Video Park, Thiruvanthapuram.
The inspiration behind G S Manoj Kumar who is the pivotal force of this mission is the story of a Whatsapp group in Kozhikode which reads out stories for the blind to rekindle the habit of reading which is gradually on the verge of extinction. The habitual reading while travelling has died out and through ‘Oridathoridathu’, stories can be instilled in the minds of the listeners, keeping alive their cravings and satisfying the urges of those who love to hear stories.
The stories that come in the weeklies and magazines are swept back in memory with time between editions , but stories can be played repeatedly on the channel to avoid such memory lapses and have a permanent place of existence, claims the hands behind the channel. Apart from these objectives, authors can read out their own prose and breathe new life into their creations. The channel handlers have made it possible for the readers to also rate their appreciation realtime, each time they hear a story.
This channel is opening the new vistas of story telling which was carried down from generations from Grandmothers to mothers. In Today’s world this channel will make stories available for the new generation who do not have this luxury of listening to stories from the older generation. Innumerous authors will be lined up on the channel to showcase their stories through their own voices to the readers.
We will set on a journey of stories, break the dawn listening to stories and grow up with the essence of stories. Stories are available
