Legendary Magician Gopinath Muthukad Returns to Stage for a One-Time Performance in Kozhikode

After a four-year hiatus from the stage, during which he devoted himself to empowering mentally disabled children through his pioneering initiatives Magic Planet and DAC (Different Art Centre), India’s iconic magician Gopinath Muthukad is set to make a rare return to live performance. The special one-time magic event, “Illusion to Inspiration,” will be held at the Providence College Auditorium in Kozhikode on August 9.

A Merlin Award-winning illusionist, Muthukad stepped away from public performances in 2021 to fully immerse himself in philanthropic work, using art and magic to uplift and inspire differently abled children. This upcoming two-hour show will merge magic, music, dance, and advanced stage technology, with his dedicated team at Magic Planet in Thiruvananthapuram working tirelessly to create a seamless and unforgettable experience.

“This performance is a heartfelt tribute to my father, who inspired me to pursue magic as a way to bring joy and positive change to people’s lives,” said Muthukad. “After taking a break from the stage to focus on my humanitarian work, I’m giving my all to ensure this show reflects my deepest gratitude and passion.”

The choice of Kozhikode carries deep personal significance for Muthukad. It was in this city that he first performed on stage in 1987, an experience that he recalls as “a turning point” in his life. “My first performance in Kozhikode gave me the confidence and self-belief to follow this magical journey,” he reflected. “Returning here for this special tribute feels like completing a circle in my life.”

“Illusion to Inspiration” will be free and open to the public, offering a unique opportunity for audiences across India to witness one of the nation’s most celebrated magicians back on stage. The event will be inaugurated by legendary magician P.C. Sorcar Junior, with prominent personalities from across the country expected to attend, highlighting Muthukad’s dual legacy in art and social service.
