KOCHI:
The ongoing fourth edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale is proof to Kerala’s capability to showcase a contemporary art festival of global repute on a sustained basis, meriting “proper funds” for its future editions, the host state’s governor Justice (retd) P Sathasivam said today.
Describing the exhibits as “marvellous”, he called upon people to “come and see” the 108-day event to learn more about humanity’s past as well as the present. “It (viewing the projects) requires a whole day,” he said after a round of the main Aspinwall House venue at Fort Kochi. “It speaks about the wealth of our nation, particularly our Kerala”.
The governor exhorted more people, particularly students of history, to visit the biennale to learn further “about our forefathers”. The biennale “is an asset to our state.” To a question, he said the place of artistic expression is “not ordinary” in a democracy. “We have to preserve it. I appreciate the state government and management persons in charge of the biennale,” Justice Sathasivam added.
