KOCHI:
Bhavans Vidya Mandir, Giri Nagar, has won the Kerala rounds of the national-level Cryptic Crossword Competition (CCCC 2017), organised by the Spices Board in Kochi.
Extra C, a Patna-based civil society organization, in association with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) is organizing the largest cryptic crossword contest for school students in India, with city-wide competitions that will run from July to September, and national contest scheduled in November-December.
The CCCC2017 Kerala round, was held at the Spices Board headquarters in Kochi.
Poojitha Menon and Neha Menon who won the competition for Bhavans Vidya Mandir, received trophies, certificates and win a free trip to New Delhi where they will represent Kerala at the three-day grand finale of the national-level competition which will consist of a written quarter-final, four onstage semi-finals and the onstage final.
Joel Joe Evans and Amal A. Nambiar representing Bhavans Aadarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad were the runners-up of the competition.
The event, an exciting challenge for students from IX to XII of all Boards- State/CBSE/ICSE, saw a participation of teams representing 22 schools across Kerala.
Dr A. Jayathilak, Chairman, Spices Board inaugurated the concluding function and distributed the prizes to winners. Raj Narayan Singh, National Coordinator of CCCC 2017 briefed on the contest and explained the proceedings of the final phase National level round scheduled at Delhi to the winners.
The winning team at the CCCC2017 finals stands to win Rs 25,000 cash award, the National Crossword Champion trophy and certificates. The first and second runners up will get a prize of Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively along with trophies and certificates.
