Research has shown that a walk or a run can benefit almost all the parts of woman body. It can raise the level of good cholesterol while also help increase lung function and use. It boosts the immune system and lowers the risk of developing blood clots. For woman, running can actually lower the risk of breast cancer. It can also reduce the risk of having a stroke. Running or walking helps the arteries retain their elasticity and strengthen the heart, which reduces the chances of suffering a heart attack.
Not all benefits of running are physical. Running can provide a noticeable boost to woman’s confidence and self-esteem. By setting and achieving goals, it helps woman’s give a great sense of empowerment that will leave them feel much happier. Stress can actually cause a number of health and mood problems. It can also diminish the appetite and sleep quality. But while walking or running the body is forced to exert excess energy and hormones. It also helps to reduce the chances of developing tension headaches.
The various Pinkathon mascots of VWash plus 3Km, 5Km, 10Km and 21Km categories successfully completed their respective runs yet again spreading the message that woman can overcome any physical, mental and emotional issues if they focus on their life and take up their health and fitness seriously. Age, disabilities, illness or for that matter even cloths are not a deterrent anymore. With the Pinkathon’s one of a kind initiative, every single finisher of Pinkathon Mumbai 2018, received a beautiful Tsunamika medal, up cycled bag, free gynaec consultation from the healthcare partner Apollo Hospitals and a free mammogram if the participant is above 45 years of age. The benefit is also transferable.
Only a few minutes of running, your brain will start to secret hormones that naturally improve the mood. In fact there are few things in the world that can better or more rapidly treat depression than exercise such as running. It is incredibly beneficial to body, mind and spirit. It helps feel more energized, much more focused and better able to enjoy all that life has to offer.
The focus of India’s biggest women’s only running event is to encourage an active lifestyle and overall fitness amongst women while creating a much-needed awareness about breast cancer and bone health and encourage thousands of new or first-timer women to take up running. All proceeds raised from the event will be used for the expenses incurred in organizing and marketing the event, and by the Women’s Cancer Initiative in its fight against breast cancer.
Nina Elavia Jaipuria, Head- hindi mass entertainment and kids Tv network, viacom18 commemorating the successful completion of the event said, “Its overwhelming to see such a staggering participation of women across all chapters of the Pinkathon. Being a woman, I understand the stigmas we face when we strive to achieve something beyond the usual. However, over the years, the participation of lacs of women for Pinkathon has helped change mindsets around running and leading an active lifestyle. Through this association, we at COLORS hope to inspire many more women and empower them to define their own measure of success.”
Since time immemorial woman has played the role of nurturing society, oblivious of her own individuality, dignity, empowerment and health. In order to move towards a healthier future, it is crucial to understand why well-being of a woman is becoming more important.
