Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday dismissed a myth that yoga was a religious activity, saying religion had nothing to do with it.
Vijayan made the remark while inaugurating the state-level International Yoga Day celebrations here “The people of Kerala is affected by lifestyle diseases and practicing yoga is the best way to prevent it. But there is myth that’s going around that yoga is a religious activity. Yoga has nothing to do with religion,” said Vijayan.
Governor P. Sathasivam, who led a yoga session at the Raj Bhavan here, said: “Yoga brings peace to our mind, health and body. It signifies the unity of thought and action and shows a holistic path to health and well-being.” Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ram Madhav also led a session here and said that yoga would be good for some “immature people” in Parliament.
