KOCHI:
The construction of Westfort Gardens at Poonithura which was delayed was undertaken by Abad Builders and completed the work.
The construction was started by Southern Investments Private Limited (SI) in 2006 and it was stopped due to financial crisis. The residential apartment with 84 flats was supposed to be completed by 2010.
However, SI was able to complete 14 apartments in A Block and handed over to the owners. When the project was delayed, the investors formed an Association, Westfort Gardens Crisis Association.
The Association collected money from the investors to complete the project and deposited in a bank. Following the request from the Association members, Abad Builders managing director Dr Najeeb Zackeria agreed to complete the project.
The project was completed in six months time and it will be handed over to the owners on August 24, informed Dr Najeeb Zackeria. The construction was completed with more facilities than assured by SI. This is a model for Kerala, where the construction works are stopped at various projects, Najeeb Zackeria said.
Westfort Gardens Crisis Association president Dinesh K Nair, secretary M Balakrishnan and V Sathanarayanan also participated at the press meet.
