KOCHI:
For the very first time, India is hosting a global Football fiesta with the ongoing football season. To engage with the residents of a state where football is a prime passion, Vodafone carried out an innovative initiative ‘Cheer-O- Meter’ specially for customers in Kerala.
Vodafone invited customers to participate in live events at Kochi, Kozhikode and Malappuram to join in some vocal action and cheer at their loudest, to support the foot action taking place at different locations in the country.
Under the Cheer-O- Meter initiative, Vodafone had set up 40 inch live screens simulating a smartphone. Vodafone customers were invited to key-in their name and phone number on the Cheer-o- Meter screen, and then cheer ‘GOAL’ at their loudest, a microphone placed next to the screen. The cheer was measured on an analogue mater on the screen and the decibel figure was displayed on the screen. The cheers crossing a pre-set level received a SMS short code granting them gifts ranging from branded photo frame with photograph, participation certificate, to I hour of free data on Vodafone SuperNet 4G.
Thanking Vodafone customers for their enthusiastic participation in the Vodafone Cheer Champions initiative, Ajit Chaturvedi, Business Head – Kerala, Vodafone India, said “Football and Kerala are intrinsically linked and no other sport infuses as much excitement amongst Keralites across the length and breadth of the state, as football does. As Kerala’s Vodafone, we wanted to get Keralites into the spirit of the game to support the football season and games being played in India and conducted the Vodafone Cheer Champions in Kochi, Kozhikode and Malappuram. It was no surprise to see the ‘Keraleeyan’ spirit and zest get demonstrated through the way our customers put their vocal chords to good use by cheering for their favourite sport”.
The areas where Vodafone Cheer Champions was conducted, were set up to look like a football field. Spectators were given Vodafone branded caps. All participants in Vodafone Cheer Champions were given branded photo frames with their photograph. Participants, whose cheers crossed the pre-set level, were handed over Vodafone certificates for being Vodafone Cheer Champions.
