  • Vietjet Retains Its Position Among the World’s Safest Airlines for 2026

By NE Reporter on January 16, 2026

    MUMBAI:
Vietjet has once again been recognised by AirlineRatings, the world’s leading airline safety and product rating website, as one of the world’s safest airlines for 2026. The airline has also consistently maintained a 7/7 safety rating by AirlineRatings since 2018, reaffirming its long-standing commitment to the highest safety standards on its vital India-Vietnam routes and across its extensive Asia-Pacific network.

Vietjet continues to feature alongside leading global low-cost carriers such as easyJet, Southwest Airlines and Ryanair in the top tier of safety rankings for multiple consecutive years. This sustained recognition underscores the airline’s strong operational discipline and focus on delivering safe, reliable journeys for millions of passengers worldwide, including a growing base of travellers from India.

Sharon Petersen, CEO of AirlineRatings, said: “Vietjet Air has delivered steady growth while maintaining fleet continuity and a high level of operational reliability. Combined with a young fleet averaging and a flawless safety record over the years, this underlines a strong, safety-focused operation. Vietnam’s aviation sector is also now delivering its best results to date in International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) audits for safe, secure, and efficient international air transport.”

AirlineRatings evaluates more than 320 airlines worldwide using a rigorous set of criteria, including incident data, fleet age, pilot training and international safety audits. This year, greater emphasis was also placed on turbulence prevention, along with other industry indicators. The platform has become one of the most trusted benchmarks in the global aviation industry.

Vietjet operates a modern, fuel-efficient fleet with a technical reliability rate of 99.72%, among the highest in the region. The airline holds IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) certificate as well as ISAGO certification for ground operations safety. Vietjet actively participates in IATA safety enhancement programs and continues to invest long-term in training, maintenance and engineering, supporting the highest safety standards in both regional and global aviation.

Further strengthening its operational capabilities, the airline has recently added 22 aircraft within a single month, marking the largest fleet expansion in the airline’s history and reinforcing its commitment to efficiency, sustainability and passenger safety.

For Indian flyers, Vietjet offers direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru to Hanoi and/or Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s largest metropolises. From Vietnam, passengers can connect to multiple destinations across Asia-Pacific through Vietjet’s expansive and affordable flight network.
