THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
To celebrate the remarkable contribution by women in the society and workplace, UST Global Thiruvananthapuram Centre celebrated Women’s Day on March 8 at its campus. The event was inaugurated by eminent guests R. Sreelekha, AGDP (Prisons); Dr. V. R. Lalithambika, India’s Rocket Women, Scientist and Deputy Director VSSC (Control Guidance and Simulation Entity); and Meera Nair, Journalist & Writer. The events started with prayer and the guests lighting the inaguaral lamp. The theme for the event was ‘Press for Progress’.
The day-long celebration included music performance, various dance shows, awarding few Inspiring ladies from the center & prize distribution for various competitions held. The celebration saw a huge attendance and appreciation by the employees. The Chief Guests shared inspiring stories and messages with the employees. While Sreelekha spoke on her experiences of being the first Woman IPS officer in the state, Lalithambika spoke on her journey of working with VSSC, while Meera Nair spoke on womanhood and one of her exciting poems “Woman”. The session was also interactive as UST Global’s women employees got to know more on the experiences of these eminent personalities. Shilpa Menon, Thiruvananthapuram Centre Head, UST Global, also addressed the employees.

Prizes were distributed to the women in various areas like inspiring leaders, personality etc. The day was made more colourful by the events from employees like music, dance etc.
