Goal, the annual football tournament organised by the Kochi Infopark centre of digital technology services company UST Global came to an end with the team from Pay Commerce walking away with the honours. In the finals, Pay Commerce beat E&Y (4-2). The women’s finals was won by Fingent after they beat CTS.
The closing ceremony organised at the Thrikkakara Municipal Stadium on Sunday February 19, had Tom Joseph, National Volleyball player, and Bentla D’Coth, International Football referee as the guests of honour. UST Global Kochi Center Operations head Sunil Balakrishnan, Manoj Alappat and others were present at the closing ceremony. The winners were hander over the trophy and cash awards of Rs 15000 (winners) and Rs 10000 (runners up) at the function.
Players from Fingent won the super pair award. The Golden Glove Award went to Sonu Nair from E&Y, while the Golden all Award was presented to Augustine (E&
Y). Aravind K G (Pay Commerce ) won the Golden Boot, while Megha (Conduant) was adjudged best woman player.
Sayyad Basim (Geojit) won the Best Fan award. Goal is an intercompany sevens football tournament hosted by UST Global for all Infopark- based companies. The tournament saw a group stage with 8 groups of 4 teams each vying for the knockouts and later on two teams from each group move to the knockout stage to find the champion among the registered 40 teams.
