Team EY emerged as the proud winners for 6th Edition of UST Global Goal Men’s tournament. UST Global Goal is a football tournament organized by UST Global for Infopark-based companies.
The 6th Edition of Goal was kicked off on March 2. A total of 32 men’s’ teams participated in the 6th Edition of the tournament and the finals were played between EY and Wipro, where EY emerged the winner. In the Ladies Penalty Shootout, the finals were played between ThinkPalm and EY; ThinkPalm clinched the cup in sudden death. ThinkPalm trumped 25 teams to emerge as the champions this year.
Libin Balakrishnan from TCS emerged as the top goal scorer with 8 goals in the tournament and Golden Boot was awarded to him. Golden Ball was awarded to Athisu James of EY. Golden Glove was given to Arjun Balachandran of EY. Sreelakshmy A from ThinkPalm bagged the Best Player award in Women’s category.
Team Wipro and EY are the First Runners ‘up of the tournament in Men’s and Women’s category respectively. Sunil Balakrishnan, Global Head – Development Center Operations, UST Global, gave away the trophies to the winners along with Sunil Kesavan, Regional Manager, Vertex. Diana and Joseph from Project Venda NGO also graced the occasion with their presence.
This tournament also saw a friendly match between Project Venda and Infopark IX. Project VENDA is an NGO and the team comprises teenagers. Infopark IX team comprised players from various companies in Infopark. This match was well received by the audience as the young energetic team from Project Venda won the Match and it gave a chance to witness the classy shots of a couple of players who are representing India in the slum Soccer world cup.
