THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
With the monsoons strengthening in the state, prominent AI and digital transformation solutions company UST has stepped in to aid the police and fire and rescue personnel in Thiruvananthapuram. As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, UST has donated as many as 125 raincoats to the various stations of Thiruvananthapuram City Police and Fire & Rescue Department.
The raincoats were distributed to the personnel at the Kazhakootam Police Station, Thumba Police Station, Valiyathura Police Station, and the Fire & Rescue Department, Kazhakkootam station.
Intermittent heavy rains and gusty winds have been proving a menace to police and fire & rescue personnel as they go about doing their jobs out in the open every day. With weather forecasts warning of heavier rains in the coming days, their challenges have also grown manifold. In this scenario, the CSR team at UST believes that the raincoats provided by the company would come in handy.
Harikrishnan Mohankumar, Senior Director Workplace management; Vineeth Mohanan, CSR Lead; Bhadrakumar Krishnapanicker, Workplace management; from UST were present at the handover function.
Anand Krishnan, Sub Inspector of Police, Kazhakootam Police Station, thanked UST for this gesture. “The heavy rains have been hampering the police personnel as they battle it out in the open. Managing traffic and other important tasks amidst heavy rainfall will get easier with the raincoats donated to the department by UST,” he said.
The Fire & Rescue personnel also face challenges as more mishaps tend to happen during the rainy season. The raincoats are expected to come useful during rescue operations undertaken under heavy rainfall.
