UST, a leading digital transformation solutions company, celebrated Women’s Day on March 8 with a series of programmes at its Thiruvananthapuram campus. The event focused on the United Nations’ Women’s Day theme of the theme “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality” #Transforming Lives – Across Generations – Powered by Technology.
The celebrations on March 8 began with a dance and lamp lighting by the special guests Nagaraju Chakilam IPS, IGP and Commissioner of Police, Thiruvananthapuram City, and Dr. Pattathil Dhanya Menon – Cyber Crime investigator /Director, Avanzo Cyber Security Solutions Private Ltd, and senior leaders at UST.
City Police Commissioner Nagaraju Chakilam spoke elaborately on the recent crimes happening in the city and also emphasised the ladies to use the women-safety measures introduced by the police and cyber department, while Dr. Dhanya Menon stressed on the importance of women to stand up for themselves in life and speak for themselves. She also spoke about the cyber awareness to be created in the society for the younger generations.
Inspiring Women Awards 2023 were also presented at the event. UST’s Inspiring Women is a program that recognizes women who have stood out in various categories, and included laurels such as Inspiring Leadership Award (Personality with the most Outstanding Leadership qualities), Inspiring Personality Award (Most Inspiring person), Inspiring the Digital Way Award (Best contributor in the Digital Space) and Social Cause Award (Personality who has contributed to a noble cause). Awards were distributed to the UST employees under various categories.
UST had been organizing a range of activities from March 1 to celebrate Women’s Day week. The week-long programmes included onstage activities, dance and music programmes, panel discussion, grooming sessions, magic show, and exhibition and sales of products by women entrepreneurs. The programmes raised awareness, celebrated achievement and proved to be an inspiration for change to help forge a more gender-equal world.
