THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
In a meeting held today, between the Railways and Auto/Taxi trade union representatives at Divisional Railway Managers’ Office Trivandrum, it was agreed to introduce app based online taxi facility for the benefit of passengers at Thiruvananthapuram central railway station, duly addressing all the concerns raised by the Trade union representatives.
The assistance kiosk for app based online taxi services, will come up at the second entry of Thiruvananthapuram central railway Station, near power house road. Accommodating the concerns of the existing taxi/auto operators, the assistance kiosk planned at the main entry has been shifted to the second entry. The facility will be opened on 12.12.2017. Passengers can use mobile app and book taxi through the assistance kiosk set up in the station. The contract is awarded to UBER by railways for three months at Thiruvananthapuram central.
App based cab services are already operational at Ernakulam North and Aluva railway stations and has evoked good response from passengers. In addition to Thrivananthapuram central, Thrissur and Ernakulam South stations will have the facility introduced soon.
