THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers Union (TRCMPU) of Milma has netted a hefty sum of Rs 32 crore from sale of milk, curd, ghee and other dairy products during the Onam days.
In the four days between September 10 and 14 (from Anizham to Uthradom), the sale of Milma milk in four southern districts—Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta—stood at 38,34,530 litres and the sale of curd at 3,36,950 litres.
On Uthradam day alone, the regional union has clocked a record sale of 13.62 lakh litres of milk and 145 metric tons of curd. Around 294 metric tons of ghee was sold during Onam days.
TRCMPU had made extensive arrangements in view of rising demand for milk and other dairy products during the festival period. It also implemented incentive schemes for agencies and distributors as part of the promotional sale.
TRCMPU Chairman Mani Viswanadh and Managing Director Dr Muraly P attributed the record in sale to the concerted efforts of the Milma employees, dairy farmers, agencies, trade unions, distribution and vehicle staff and consumers.
