Kerala received Travel + Leisure India’s the Best Wellness Destination award that endorses the state’s reputation for Ayurveda and holistic healing traditions that seamlessly attract travelers from across the globe.
Kerala was chosen for the honour in the Travel + Leisure India’s Best Awards 2025.
The winners for India’s Best Awards, instituted by Travel + Leisure India & South Asia, were selected based on annual reader’s choice to honour excellence across the travel, lifestyle, and hospitality industry. Travel + Leisure is a globally recognized luxury travel medium with print and digital content, inspiring people to explore the world better.
Tourism Minister P A Mohamed Riyas said this recognition underscores Kerala’s indisputable leadership in wellness tourism in India, with its famed Ayurvedic tradition attracting wellness tourists from around the world all through the year.
Riyas noted that apart from the natural scenic landscape, the state’s time-tested Ayurveda tradition along with other recognized healing practices offer a unique rejuvenating experience for tourists, who, in turn, actually become ambassadors of Kerala’s wellness tourism.
Dr Aswathy Sreenivas, Additional Resident Commissioner, Government of Kerala, received the award from Akshita M. Bhanj Deo, Editor-in-Chief of Travel + Leisure India & South Asia, at a ceremony held in New Delhi.
The Department of Tourism will organise Kerala’s first International Ayurveda & Wellness Conclave in February 2026 in Kozhikode. It aims to bring together key stakeholders from India and abroad to strengthen Kerala’s position as a world leader in Ayurveda and wellness tourism.
The winners of India’s Best Awards were chosen through an online voting process with the involvement of readers from around the world. They selected their top picks of hotels, destinations, and lifestyle brands across various categories.
