The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Saturday that several parts of Odisha will continue to experience thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds, and hail until April 11.
According to the IMD’s midday weather bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam on April 6. Dry weather is expected to prevail over the rest of the state.
The IMD has also issued a Yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning, which are expected to affect one or two places in the aforementioned districts.
On Monday (April 7), light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected to occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, and Rayagada, while dry weather will prevail over the remaining districts of Odisha.
The forecast for Tuesday (April 8), indicates light to moderate rain or thundershowers at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh, with dry weather expected in other districts.
Additionally, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds, reaching speeds of 30-40 km/h, in areas such as Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh.
The IMD has also predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers at one or two places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh on April 10, while dry weather will dominate the remaining parts of the state.
Similarly, on April 11, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at one or two places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Rayagada, with dry weather in the rest of Odisha.
In addition to these weather conditions, the IMD has also predicted a rise in maximum temperatures by 2-4°C over the next two days, with no significant change thereafter across the state.
