The four-day conclave of the Kerala Startup Mission ( KSUM) to promote and support entrepreneurial aspirations of the youth got off to an impressive note on the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM-K) campus here on Monday, with as many as 110 ideas being pitched on the opening day .
The commencement of the event, which brings together investors, venture capital providers, technical experts and policy planners, marked the KSUM’s 9 th Idea Day. Around 110 teams presented their ideas relating to diverse sectors, including Retail; Real Estate; Tourism; Fintech; Robotics; Social and Rural Innovation; Agritech; Energy; Health and Medical Technology; Bio-Technology; Transport; and Cyber Security.
The KSUM had received over 300 applications for participation in the 9 th Idea Day, which provides students with a window to showcase their ideas and clinch the instant back-up for their materialization. Selected start-ups will get upto Rs 12 lakh as grant.
A seminar by Action Coach Mr Sanjai Chaturvedi for the startups in building their enterprises was held in the afternoon session. M. Sivasankar ,Secretary , Electroincs and IT, Government of Kerala, will inaugurate the Seeding Kerala event at UL CyberPark, Kozhikkode on Februry 6.
This unique investor meet will enable the talents with ideas to meet Angel Investors, VC Funds sponsors and High Networth Individuals (HNI) to convert the concepts into reality. They will join the brainstorming sessions to take stock of the startup scenario in the State and the strategies to be formulated to take the plans forward to tap the immense potential awaiting before the youth.
Google India CEO Rajan Anandan will address the gathering on February 7 on the sidelines of the conclave. He will also launch Mobile 10x Hub at the CyberPark. Product startups, attending the event, will get an opportunity to showcase their products .Top 30 startups selected by reviewing the applications, will be given the opportunity to demonstrate the products.
One of such largest events in the country, the KSUM will also host the Mega Demand Day with the government departments putting on display their requirements for which the start-ups are expected to come out with solutions.
On February 8, the KSUM will launch Future Spark in Kasargode, the unique platform for the students to ideate, innovate, build and learn on future technologies. The students will be in the grades starting from Class 5 to Class 12. The KSUM is implementing the project across the State and the initial target will be for 10,000 school students. Yes Bank with its Yes Head Startup programme will be the banking partner of the event.
