KALPETTA:
Minister for Industries, Sports and Youth Affairs E P Jayarajan, inaugurated the work on Omkaranathan indoor stadium here on Saturday.
The ambitious project is part of the policy of the State government to develop sports infrastructure across the State, giving a thrust to sporting activities at the grass roots. the indoor stadium will enable to mould more athletes from Wayanad district.
The project was proposed in the 2016-17 modified budget, to be developed with funding from the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB). It is coming up at 5 acre land of Kalpetta Municipality at a cost of Rs 36.87 crore.
The stadium will have a gallery with maple wood flooring, VIP lounge, guest room, office room, medical room, changing room, cafeteria and rest rooms. Other facilities will include swimming pool, training pool, office block and rain water harvesting.
